Tennant offers a full range of TennantTrue® floor pads for autoscrubbers and burnishers, including cleaning pads, scrubbing pads, stripping pads, burnishing pads, melamine pads, and diamond floor pads. Each pad type is engineered for specific floor types, soil levels, and cleaning applications.
Choosing the correct pad depends on floor type, soil level, and desired outcome:
- Burnishing Pads – Repair finish and improve gloss and shine on harder floor finishes and in high traffic areas.
- Scrubbing Pads – Remove finishing coats with water or neutral cleaners for a fresh new surface, ready for recoating.
- Stripping Pads – Remove finish, sealants and contaminants from floor surfaces.
- Cleaning and Polishing Pads – With a variey of buffing, polishing and cleaning pads to choose from, these are designed for daily use to help remove surface soils without dulling surfaces.
- Diamond Floor Pads –Clean and condition worn and dull concrete, marble, terrazzo and other porous stone flooring.
Tennant’s Pad Selection Guide helps match each pad to the task.
Cleaning and polishing pads are designed for daily maintenance, removing light soil, scuff marks, and heel marks without dulling the floor finish. These pads help extend the life of floor coatings and reduce the need for aggressive stripping.
Scrubbing pads are used when deeper cleaning is required but full stripping is not yet necessary. They are capable of removing one to four layers of finish using water or neutral cleaner and are commonly used during surface preparation before recoating. Tennant scrubbing pads help reduce reliance on chemical strippers while still delivering effective restoration results.
Stripping pads are an aggressive type of floor pad, designed to remove heavy buildup, floor finish, sealers, and embedded contaminants. These pads are typically used during deep restoration projects prior to refinishing floors. Their open, abrasive structure allows them to conform to uneven surfaces while cutting through multiple layers of finish efficiently.
Burnishing pads are designed to restore gloss and shine to hard floor finishes, especially in high‑traffic areas. They remove scuffs and surface imperfections while repairing worn finish. Tennant’s burnishing pads are commonly used on harder coatings and help maintain a high‑gloss appearance.
Melamine pads are specialty pads used primarily for cleaning tile, grout, and textured or irregular surfaces. Their dense structure allows them to remove stubborn soils and staining without relying on aggressive chemicals. This makes them ideal for environments such as healthcare, education, and retail facilities where chemical reduction is a priority.
Diamond floor pads contain microscopic, high quality synthetic diamond abrasives that clean and polish stone, terrazzo, marble, and concrete floors. Diamond pads gradually refine the floor surface to improve clarity and shine.
Floor pads should be replaced when cleaning performance declines, fibers become compressed or uneven, or visible wear is present. Continuing to use worn pads can reduce cleaning effectiveness and increase the risk of floor damage. Regular inspection ensures consistent results and helps protect floor finishes.
Pad drivers ensure proper attachment, balanced pressure, and safe operation during scrubbing and burnishing. Tennant pad drivers are designed to work seamlessly with TennantTrue® pads, helping deliver even contact across the floor surface and maximizing cleaning efficiency while reducing equipment wear.
Using the correct floor pad improves cleaning efficiency, shortens labor time, reduces chemical consumption, and extends the life of both the floor finish and the equipment. Over time, proper pad selection lowers overall maintenance costs and reduces the frequency of major restoration work, resulting in a lower total cost of ownership.
