Supply Chain Logistics Innovations

Over the years, consumers have become savvier and now expect delivery faster than ever before. When placing an order, they expect visibility, transparency, agility, and efficiency.

The 2017 Holiday Outlook from PricewaterhouseCoopers confirmed this: When offered free delivery, consumers “prefer the same-day option by an 8-point margin over next-day.” How can logistics professionals keep up?

Supply chain logistics are not immune to the innovations disrupting every other industry. From the moment an order is placed to the last mile of delivery, automation has played a role in every step of the way in sorting orders for picking, measuring parcel dimensions, and arranging delivery routes.

Robotics are also taking a role, which makes some of us truly feel as if we’re living in the future. Warehouses all over the globe are already “employing” robots to help human pickers sort through and find the correct products for packaging and delivery. The automation of equipment within a distribution center is becoming not just a trend but a necessity for some logistics professionals.

Supply chain professionals are on a journey to adapt to new technologies at an increasingly faster rate. Tennant solutions are part of that journey.

Large, high-traffic facilities with constantly changing aisles need careful and consistent maintenance. In an enclosed space such as a warehouse, facilities managers must take air quality and halting the spread of disease into consideration as much as they do slip and fall hazards. Domestic vacuums or a messy mop and bucket just won’t cut it.

As the industry evolves and moves forward, manufacturers will need to innovate how they look at cleaning solutions, especially for large and high-traffic spaces. Features that help decrease water and chemical usage, reduce drying time, and increase productivity will ensure the future of warehouses and other large spaces are set up for success.
