How Gosselin Supports Spotless Moving and Logistics Services with Tennant Sweepers

Background

Gosselin’s roots lie in Antwerp, where the company was founded in 1930 as a local moving business. Nearly a century later, its scope of operations has expanded significantly. Today, Gosselin employs around 1,500 people across Europe and supports both private individuals and businesses with moving services worldwide.

In addition, the company provides traditional logistics services throughout Belgium and neighboring countries, while continuously expanding its capabilities in temporary container storage. A key element of its offering is its one-stop-shop approach, encompassing freight transport, container stuffing and stripping, customs documentation management, and related logistics services.

Challenge

Indoor and Outdoor Sweeping Requirements

Gosselin’s headquarters are located along the Albert Canal in Antwerp and comprise several operational sites. Goods arrive by truck and barge, are consolidated and stored, and are then dispatched to their final destinations.

These activities inevitably generate various types of debris, making regular sweeping essential. To maintain its high service standards, Gosselin relies on sweeping machines capable of keeping warehouses, storage yards, offices, and garages clean and free from dirt in an efficient manner.

Looking for Robust Sweeping Machines

The debris collected across the different sites varies considerably. It may consist of easily removable materials such as dust and sand, but also more challenging waste such as wood fragments and metal components that can potentially damage cleaning equipment.

As a result, robustness is a critical requirement, alongside ease of use and the ability to operate effectively on a variety of surfaces, including concrete, asphalt, and paving stones. The machines must also provide sufficient power to tackle gradients, ensuring that all warehouse levels can be kept clean and safe.

Solution

Acombination of the Tennant S20 and Tennant 800

Gosselin operates several types of sweepers, with the Tennant S20 Ride-On Sweeper being its preferred choice over recent years.

This compact sweeper is used for cleaning tasks within smaller garages and warehouses, as well as offices and facilities with polished floors and multiple levels. More recently, Gosselin has also invested in a Tennant 800 Industrial Ride-On Sweeper, designed to deliver outstanding performance across larger areas.

The Tennant 800 is deployed at the Antwerp container terminal, across large outdoor storage areas, on internal roadways, and within larger warehouse facilities. For the most recent machine purchases, Gosselin also opted to install a safety cab to provide operators with additional protection from falling objects.

“One of the key reasons why we chose Tennant is that they excel at what they are designed to do: sweeping. In terms of value for money, Tennant sweepers are simply the best choice.”

Results

Excellence in Their Core Function

During the search for a suitable cleaning solution, Gosselin worked closely with Motrac, Tennant’s authorized distributor for the Benelux region.

After evaluating several options, Tennant proved to be the best fit for the company’s requirements. The machines demonstrated both durability and ease of operation, while offering a major advantage: excellent sweeping performance. According to Johan Verbaeten, Director Facility Services at Gosselin, the company was looking for equipment that was “highly effective at the task it was purchased for, without unnecessary extras.” Tennant emerged as the preferred solution, offering the best overall value for money among all the brands considered.

The low maintenance costs and the machines’ debris collection method were also highly appreciated. While Tennant sweepers incorporate a vacuum function, it is used solely to filter airflow. Because debris is directed straight into the hopper by the brushes, the collection process is more efficient and significantly reduces the risk of machine damage.
