Positive Impacts On Businesses & Communities Alike

There are several reasons that volunteering your time, or donating to, charitable organizations is good for business and the community. Not only does it give back to the communities in which you do business, it can also help make your employees feel like part of a larger cause. Most of us have a desire to help less fortunate people, animals, or causes that are close to our hearts, so providing opportunities for your employees to volunteer their time is great for employee morale and attracting talent.

Below are some of the additional benefits companies may receive as they help their communities through charitable work and service projects:

Build Brand Status in the Community

Charitable giving helps create an image that your company has a genuine concern for the well-being of the community at large. That impression is not lost on customers, clients, and potential business collaborators, and may help your brand become more recognized in your community.

Giving Back Garners Community Respect

Giving back as a company, whether it’s through volunteer hours, product donations, or monetary fundraisers, can help your business earn community respect and recognition. While investors, industry peers, and other corporations may respect you for your business accomplishments and innovations, giving back is a great way to garner respect from community members who may not be familiar with your brand or previous charitable work.

Charitable Giving Can Earn New Customers

People like to support companies and products that align with their personal beliefs. One study cited that 88% of Americans will buy from a purpose-driven company and 78% of Americans would tell others to buy from purpose-driven companies. Giving back isn’t just the right thing to do, but can also help you earn new customers who also believe in giving back.

In the month of February Tennant employees packed over 150,000 meals which will feed 413 children for one year with Feed My Starving Children

Our recent North American Sales Meeting was attended by more than 400 team members from the U.S., Canada, and various international offices. Each year, our planning team selects two or three local organizations for the team to donate their time to and provide a financial contribution.

This year, we worked with the YMCA of the Greater Twin CitiesBridging, and Feed My Starving Children.

Our sales team and corporate employees volunteered a total of 856 hours of time across the three service projects. The Feed My Starving Children non-profit leveraged our efforts into 58,320 meals, which is enough to feed 160 children for an entire year. Bridging turned the hours of 114 volunteers into 100 dressers, and the YMCA garnered 255 care baskets for people in need.

In addition, a group of nearly 150 corporate employees volunteered at Feed My Starving Children this month and were able to pack over 92,000 meals, which provides food for 253 children for one year.

Tennant Company is proud to give back to our communities across the globe through local service projects, the Tennant Foundation, an employee donation matching program and fundraising efforts.
